About Us

Paweł M. Boguszewski, PhD

Dr. Paweł Boguszewski is a neuroscientist and behaviorist, head of Laboratory of Behavioral Methods, core-facility at the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology in Warsaw, Poland. He has been specializing in the design and analysis of animal behavioral tests for basic and applied biomedical research. He is the author of several computer programs for analyzing data from behavioral studies. Dr. Boguszewski is a graduate of the Faculty of Biology at Warsaw University. He received his Ph.D. degree at the Nencki Institute and completed his scientific internship at Yale University in the USA.

Wiktoria Mrozek, PhD

Dr. Wiktoria Mrozek is a senior technician, researcher and biological data analyst. She has an interdisciplinary background: a BS in Bioinformatics from Jagiellonian University, an MS in Biophysics from the University of Warsaw, and a Ph.D. in Neurobiology from the Nencki Institute. In her doctoral work on the neurobiology of emotion and addiction, she utilized appetitive ultrasonic vocalizations as a key measure to investigate the affective states associated with craving and reward. She's constantly trying to expand her knowledge of mathematics in biological systems to ensure accurate modeling of animal behavior.

Tomasz Włodarczyk

Tomasz Włodarczyk is the deputy head and senior technician. For over 15 years, he has specialized in conducting behavioral research using laboratory animals. He is responsible for organizing and implementing experiments, supervising their conduct, and ensuring high quality and reproducibility of research in accordance with applicable scientific, ethical, and qualitative standards. He has co-authored scientific publications — available on PubMed — and actively participates in research projects. He trains new employees and doctoral students, supports the development of experimental methods, and continually expands his expertise by following the latest advances in behavioral research and modern laboratory techniques.

Renata Zakrzewska

Renata is a senior technician and laboratory diagnostician specializing in experimental biology and histopathology. She performs behavioral tests (open field test, elevated plus maze, Morris water maze, forced swim test, tail suspension test) assessing anxiety levels, motor activity, depression, and cognitive abilities in mice and rats, supporting projects in neurobiology and experimental medicine. She can prepare and evaluate tissue material— from cryostat sectioning and manual rotary microtome to a wide range of histological, histopathological, and immunohistochemical stainings. She has co-authored scientific publications—her participation is limited exclusively to tests on animal models (mice, rats) — available on PubMed.
